Overview
The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) program is an extensive training curriculum designed to enable individuals with a passion for aviation to transition into professional aviators, qualified to fly for compensation or hire. This course encompasses a diverse array of theoretical and practical topics, ensuring pilots acquire the essential knowledge and skills required for the safe and efficient operation of aircraft. Pilot training comprises two parts: Ground Training and Flying Training.
Ground Training — Course Modules
Overview of the aviation industry and its history; different aircraft types and their roles.
Principles of flight, including lift, drag, thrust, and gravity.
Basics of meteorology, weather phenomena, and their impact on aviation.
Fundamentals of navigation, including charts, maps, and navigation instruments.
Overview of aviation regulations and legal aspects.
In-depth study of engines, avionics, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
Radio communication procedures, phraseology, and ATC coordination.
Cross-country flight planning using charts, tools, and fuel calculations.
Handling engine failures, system malfunctions, and in-flight emergencies.
Communication and teamwork in the cockpit; collaborative decision-making.
Overview of aviation security protocols and procedures.
Ground Training — Pre-requisites
- 10+2 or high school diploma or equivalent, minimum 60% in Mathematics and Physics
- Proficient in English language
Flying Training
The hands-on component entails flight hours under instructor guidance, allowing students to enhance practical skills and gain real-world flying experience — mastering advanced maneuvers, precision flying, navigation, and decision-making across diverse weather conditions. To qualify for the CPL, candidates must complete 200 hours of flight time:
- 100 hours as Pilot-in-Command
- 20 hours of cross-country flight time as Pilot-in-Command
- 10 hours dedicated to instrument training
- 5 hours of night flight time
MPS Aerospace delivers the Ground Training curriculum in-house. The Flying Training component (200 flight hours) is arranged through partner Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) — we do not operate our own aircraft or airfield. Flying Training — Pre-requisites
- Completed 12th grade with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board
- Meets medical fitness standards
- Strong multitasking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities; quick learning aptitude
- Proficiency in English language
Upon completing the CPL course, candidates undergo a practical test assessing flying skills, knowledge, and decision-making. Requirements are general guidelines and may vary based on the overseeing aviation authority — consult your chosen flight school for specifics.
